Hoppé's Peers

E.O. Hoppé was a Photo-Modernist actively leading the global art scene out London from 1907 until the 1940s. He was prolific and highly influential in international art circles as an exhibiting and publishing photographer who pioneered the field alongside his peers.
The images below show some visual comparisons of Hoppé's work next to better-known examples by his peers (click on each thumbnail to see an enlarged comparison). We learn from this simple comparison that Hoppé's works were sometimes earlier and sometimes arguably better than the work we presently revere as masterworks of early Photo-Modernism.
